Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How can I get more information about Maharlika Cultural Troupe, Inc.
For more information on our practices/workshops, please contact the teachers Ate Alverna (sendit2vern@mcti92.org) or Cassie (A2tubee@mcti92.org).  Cassie sends weekly email updates which are also found on the homepage of this website.  To be removed from the weekly email list, please contact Cassie.

2 How can I join Maharlika Cultural Troupe, Inc.?
To join, you may contact Ate Alverna (sendit2vern@mcti92.org), Cassie (A2tubee@mcti92.org), or any of the officers.  Typically, new members are invited to observe our practice/workshop and are introduced to the youth.  While most of our activities are developed for youth, we also have activities for the whole family to participate in.  All are invited to participate.

3. How much is the tuition or fees?
Maharlika Cultural Troupe, Inc. has never charged its members tuition or fees.  We do ask that families sign up to bring snacks as all the families rotate each week.  We also would prefer that families bring healthy nutritious snacks for the youth.

4. How old do I have to be to join Maharlika Cultural Troupe, Inc.?
There is not age minimum or maximum to join Maharlika.  If a youth is still very young, we ask that a parent or older sibling stay with the young youth until he or she is adequately independent.

5. How much commitment does it take?
We have practice/workshop every Sunday.  While we do not require perfect attendance, we encourage our members to try to attend every practice.  However, we understand that most of our members are still in school, and we encourage our youth to place their studies as a higher priority.  We are also flexible and understanding that the youth have other extracurricular and family events, so students are not punished for any absences.  We do ask that you contact Ate Alverna and I to let us know you will not be attending practice/workshop as it may affect our lesson plans.

6. How do I get my costumes and props?
All costumes and props are property of Maharlika Cultural Troupe, Inc.  For performances and practices, Maharlika will distribute costumes and props to each student.  Each student is responsible for the care, cleaning, and maintenance of those items until Maharlika asks for them back.  In the event that a member wishes to take a break or discontinue their membership, all property must be returned to our Technical Officer.  The Technical Officer of our board of directors is the guardian of the costumes and props.  If you would like to borrow our costumes, props, and music, please contact Cassie (A2tubee@mcti92.org) or the Technical Officer.

7. What do I need to bring each week?
Each week, please wear comfortable clothes and shoes.  Students are often assigned homework or projects with specific due dates.  If you have any questions about what to bring to class, please contact Ate Alverna (sendit2vern@mcti92.org) or Cassie (A2tubee@mcti92.org)

8. How do the parents get involved?
Every other week or on assigned days, the parents have their own practices taught by Ate Alverna or a fellow parent.  Dances include line dancing, ballroom dancing, cultural dancing, and any other activities chosen by the parents.  Additionally, parents are encouraged to join our board of directors, volunteer to lead and organize projects, and bring snacks on an assigned date.

9. How do I sign up for or switch days to bring snacks?
Snack sign ups occur every few months.  In the event that you cannot bring snacks on your assigned day, please contact another family to switch.  Contact information for each family is located on the Maharlika family roster.

10. If I donate is it tax deductable?
Yes.  Maharlika Cultural Troupe, Inc. is a nonprofit, community based organization.  All money and time donated to Maharlika are tax deductible. Please contact us if you would like paperwork for preparing your taxes.
